Indoors, especially near fabrics, carpets, upholstery, stored clothing, and window areas; adults may also visit flowers outdoors.

Adults feed mainly on pollen and nectar. Larvae consume keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, and dead insects.

Adults are small, oval beetles that often crawl or fly toward light. Larvae are hairy, hide in dark undisturbed areas, and can persist for months or years while damaging textiles.

Larvae can damage natural-fiber fabrics and occasionally cause skin irritation from contact with larval hairs. They also help decompose animal remains and organic debris.
