Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on animal fibers containing keratin, including wool, silk, hair, fur, feathers, and lint. Adults do not eat.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae spin silken tubes or mats while feeding. Adults are photophobic (avoid light) and are poor fliers, often seen scurrying across surfaces.
Risks & Benefits
Significant risk as a domestic pest; the larvae cause irreparable damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They provide no direct benefits to humans in an indoor environment.
