Behavior Patterns

They are slow-moving and covered in a white, waxy, mealy secretion for protection. They often excrete a sticky substance called honeydew which can lead to sooty mold growth; they undergo incomplete metamorphosis.

Risks & Benefits

Major agricultural and horticultural pests that can weaken or kill plants and spread plant diseases. They offer no significant benefits to human ecosystems and are difficult to eradicate once established.
