Boxwood Leaftier Moth
Scientific Name: Galasa nigrinodis
Order & Family: Lepidoptera, Pyralidae
Size: Wingspan typically ranges from 13 mm to 20 mm.

Natural Habitat
Gardens, shrublands, and residential areas near boxwood plants throughout North America.
Diet & Feeding
Adults feed on nectar from flowers; larvae (caterpillars) feed on the leaves of boxwood (Buxus) and occasionally other shrubs.
Behavior Patterns
Night-flying (nocturnal) and attracted to artificial lights; larvae tie leaves together with silk to create a protective shelter while feeding.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans; however, the larvae are considered a minor garden pest as they can cause aesthetic damage to boxwood shrubs by defoliating and matting the leaves.
