Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, particularly on walls in humid climates, closets, and under furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Scavenger of natural fibers, including spider webs, wool, hair, silk, and dead insects.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered in sand, dust, and debris. It can poke its head out of either end of the case to crawl or feed, eventually pupating inside the case.

Risks & Benefits

Considered a minor household pest as they can damage silk or wool clothing. They are harmless to humans and pets, and help clean up spider webs and organic debris.
