Natural Habitat

Typically found inside buildings, houses, and humid structures, often on walls or under furniture.

Diet & Feeding

The larvae feed on spider webs, wool, hair, silk, and dead insect remains.

Behavior Patterns

Larvae construct a protective, flattened silken case covered in sand, dust, and lint which they carry as they move. They can poke their heads out of either end of the case to feed or travel. They typically crawl up walls to pupate near the ceiling.

Risks & Benefits

They are a minor household pest that can damage natural fibers like wool or silk. They are considered ecologically beneficial as scavengers but are generally unwanted indoors. They pose no direct health risk to humans.
