Unidentifiable small household insect (possibly a booklouse or small beetle)

Small indoor insects of this type commonly occur in humid areas, stored paper or food products, wood, and household debris.

Booklice feed on mold, fungi, organic residues, and microscopic particles; small pantry beetles may consume grains or other stored products.

Usually crawl slowly and hide in cracks, packaging, or undisturbed materials. Booklice thrive in damp conditions and reproduce readily where mold is present.

Neither likely bites people nor transmits disease. They are mainly nuisance or contamination indicators; reducing humidity and cleaning affected materials usually controls them.
