Bed bugs hide in mattress seams, bed frames, upholstered furniture, cracks, and other sheltered indoor locations, emerging mainly at night.

They feed exclusively on blood, primarily from humans, using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

Nocturnal and secretive; they often produce clustered or linear bites, though skin reactions vary and bites cannot confirm an infestation. Eggs, shed skins, dark fecal spots, or live bugs provide stronger evidence.

They are not known to transmit disease reliably, but bites can cause itching, allergic reactions, and secondary infection from scratching. They have no meaningful household benefit.
