Natural Habitat

Warm, humid indoor areas, especially kitchens, bathrooms, wall voids, and near plumbing or appliances.

Omnivorous scavengers feeding on food crumbs, grease, starches, cardboard, glue, and organic debris.

Behavior Patterns

Mostly nocturnal, fast-moving, and secretive; they hide in cracks by day and reproduce rapidly. Nymphs lack fully developed wings and mature through several molts.

Risks & Benefits

Can contaminate food and surfaces and spread allergens associated with asthma and dermatitis. They provide little household benefit, though they recycle organic matter outdoors.
