Barklouse (booklouse), likely a psocid

Found in humid indoor areas, stored books and paper, under bark, leaf litter, and sheltered outdoor surfaces.

Feeds on mold, fungal spores, algae, pollen, and organic residues; indoor species may graze on microscopic growth on paper or surfaces.

Small, soft-bodied, and generally slow-moving; populations increase in warm, damp conditions. Many species are wingless, while others have wings and disperse short distances.

Harmless to people and pets and does not bite or sting. It helps recycle organic matter, though heavy indoor infestations indicate excess moisture and may damage or stain stored paper materials.
