Brown marmorated stink bug

Vegetation, orchards, gardens, woodlands, and buildings; native to East Asia and invasive across much of North America and Europe.

Pierces plant tissues and sucks sap from fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and woody plants, often damaging crops.

Adults overwinter in sheltered structures and emerge in spring; they produce multiple generations in warm regions. When disturbed, they release a strong defensive odor and may aggregate in large numbers.

A major agricultural and household nuisance that can cause fruit deformation and crop losses. It does not bite or sting, and its ecological benefits are limited; native predators may consume some individuals.
