Granary Weevil

Found globally in places where grain is stored, such as pantries, silos, and warehouses.

Larvae develop inside whole grains (wheat, rice, corn, barley); adults feed on the same.

Flightless, they depend on human movement of grain for dispersal. They lay eggs inside kernels through a hole bored by the female.

Significant agricultural pest; destroys stored food products. They pose no direct physical harm or bite risk to humans but contaminate food supplies.
