Phorid Fly Larva

Decaying organic matter, moist environments, and various indoor surfaces like kitchen waste or drains.

Necrophagous or saprophagous, feeding on decaying plant or animal matter, fungi, and occasionally organic buildup in plumbing.

Found in large numbers near food sources; they move in a jerky, crawling fashion and pupate in dry areas near their larval food source.

Can cause myiasis in humans/animals if accidentally ingested or via open wounds; acts as an ecosystem decomposer but is considered a significant indoor pest.
