Found worldwide in human structures, particularly pantries, warehouses, and libraries.

A generalist scavenger that feeds on a wide variety of dried plant products including flour, spices, bread, and even prescription drugs.

Adults are capable of flight and are attracted to light; they do not feed, focusing entirely on reproduction while larvae do the damage through boring and feeding.

Major pest of stored food products and museum specimens; non-toxic to humans but can cause significant economic damage and food contamination.
