Diet & Feeding
Adults feed on tree sap, rotting fruit, carrion, and manure. Caterpillars feed on leaves of Hackberry (Celtis) species.
Behavior Patterns
Known for its bold and inquisitive nature, often landing on humans to drink sweat (salt). Males are territorial and perch on trees to watch for mates. They exhibit two or more generations per year.
