Behavior Patterns

Known for seeking shelter in buildings to overwinter (diapause). When threatened or crushed, they release a pungent, foul-smelling chemical from scent glands on their abdomen.

Major agricultural pest that damages crops; a nuisance in homes due to smell and aggregations. Harmless to humans and pets as they do not bite, sting, or transmit diseases.
