Bed bug

Indoor environments, particularly in cracks and crevices of mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and baseboards near sleeping areas.

Hematophagous (feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals)

Nocturnal and highly secretive, emerging primarily at night to feed while hosts are sleeping. They hide during the day and undergo incomplete metamorphosis through five nymphal stages.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, significant psychological stress, and severe infestations that are difficult and expensive to eradicate. They provide no known ecological or human benefits.
