Drain Fly

Found in damp, organic-rich environments such as bathroom drains, septic tanks, and sewer pipes.

Larvae eat nutrient-rich organic slime, algae, and bacteria; adults feed on liquid carbohydrates and water.

Weak fliers that are often found resting on walls near drains. They are most active at night and have a life cycle of about 1 to 3 weeks.

They do not bite or transmit human diseases directly, but they can be a nuisance and potentially transport bacteria from sewage to food surfaces. Larvae can help break down organic matter in drains.
