Natural Habitat

Pantries, food-storage areas, and warehouses where dry foods are kept.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on stored grains, flour, cereal, nuts, dried fruit, and other dry foods; adults do not feed.

Behavior Patterns

Larvae spin silk webbing in infested food and may wander away to pupate. Adults are small, nocturnal moths; several visible here appear caught on a sticky trap.

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to people, but larvae contaminate food with webbing, droppings, and shed skins; they are common pantry pests.
