Indian Meal Moth

Indoor environments such as pantries, kitchens, and food storage facilities where grains and dry goods are kept.

Larvae feed on stored dry food products including grains, flour, cereals, pasta, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and pet food.

Nocturnal adults are weak flyers and are often seen resting on walls or ceilings. Females lay eggs directly on or near food sources, and larvae spin silk threads as they feed, contaminating stored goods.

Risks include contaminating and ruining stored human food and pet products. They do not bite or sting, and pose no direct health threat to humans, but can be persistent household pests.
