Carpet beetle (adult)

Indoors near carpets, stored fabrics, upholstered furniture, and window sills; also outdoors on flowers.

Larvae feed on wool, feathers, fur, and other animal-derived materials; adults mainly feed on pollen and nectar.

Adults are small, oval beetles often found near windows. The bristly larvae hide in undisturbed materials and may leave shed skins.

Larvae can damage natural-fiber textiles and contaminate stored items; their hairs may irritate skin. Adults are harmless pollinators.
