Seed bug (likely a burrowing bug)

Usually found on or in soil, leaf litter, and around plant roots; adults may wander indoors.

Primarily feeds by sucking sap from roots and other plant parts.

Adults are compact, shield-shaped insects that often burrow into soil; many species overwinter beneath debris or underground.

Harmless to people and buildings; most are minor plant feeders, and their burrowing can contribute to soil activity.
