Bed bug

Found globally in human dwellings, primarily in cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and surrounding furniture.

Obligate hematophage (feeds exclusively on blood, primarily human blood, using a piercing-sucking mouthpart)

Nocturnal and highly secretive, emerging mostly at night to feed while hosts sleep. They go through five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt into the next stage.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, psychological distress, and severe infestations that are difficult and expensive to eradicate. They provide no known benefits to humans.
