Marmorated Stink Bug

Agricultural fields, orchards, gardens, and surrounding woodlands. They frequently seek shelter in buildings during winter.

Herbivorous; feeds on the sap of a wide variety of plants, fruits, and vegetables using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

Spends winter in a dormant state (diapause) inside protected structures and trees. When disturbed or crushed, they emit a strong, unpleasant odor from defensive glands.

Risks: Can be a major agricultural pest causing severe damage to crops and fruits, and can become a household nuisance when aggregating in large numbers indoors. Benefits: None significant to humans, though they serve as prey for certain native predators.
