Green blow fly (bottle fly)

Common around animal waste, carrion, garbage, pet areas, and occasionally indoors near windows or food odors.

Adults feed on liquids such as decaying organic matter, nectar, and animal secretions; larvae develop in carrion or other decomposing material.

Strong fliers attracted to light, odors, and warm surfaces; females lay eggs on suitable decaying material, where maggots complete development before pupating.

Adults can mechanically transfer microbes and are nuisance pests, though they do not usually bite. Larvae help decompose carcasses and recycle nutrients; some *Lucilia* species are used in wound-cleaning therapy.
