Bed Bug

Indoor environments, particularly in cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and furniture near sleeping areas.

Hematophagous; feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.

Nocturnal and highly secretive, hiding in dark, tight spaces during the day and emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis through five nymphal stages.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and significant psychological distress or sleep disturbance. They provide no known ecological benefits to human living spaces.
