Plaster bagworm (household casebearer)

Quiet, humid indoor areas such as bathrooms, closets, wall corners, and beneath eaves; also occurs outdoors under sheltered surfaces.

The larva feeds mainly on spider webs, dead insects, hair, lint, and other keratin-rich organic debris, rather than fabric itself.

The caterpillar lives inside a portable, flattened silken case camouflaged with dust and debris, extending its head to crawl and feed. It pupates within the case; adults are small, inconspicuous moths.

Harmless to people, pets, and buildings, and it does not bite or sting. It helps recycle household detritus, though recurring cases may indicate excess humidity or accumulated debris.
