Stick Insect (Walkingstick)

Forests, woodlands, gardens, and shrublands with dense vegetation

Herbivorous; feeds on leaves from trees, shrubs, and various plants

Uses extreme crypsis (mimicking twigs or sticks) to avoid predators. Mostly active at night (nocturnal) and moves very slowly, often swaying side-to-side to mimic branches blowing in the wind.

Harmless to humans; harmless to beneficial plants in small numbers. Acts as a natural foliage pruner in ecosystems and provides food for birds, small mammals, and spiders.
