Ant brood (pupa/larva)

Typically found inside of an ant colony or nest, which can be located in soil, under rocks, or within rotting wood.

In the larval stage, they are fed by adult workers. Diet includes regurgitated liquids, insect parts, or trophic eggs.

The brood is immobile and entirely dependent on adult workers for care, cleaning, and transport to optimal temperature/humidity zones within the nest.

In the nest stage, they pose no direct risk to humans. Ant colonies as a whole benefit the ecosystem through soil aeration and pest control, though some species are household pests.
