Gardens, meadows, grasslands, and areas with abundant flowering plants

Adults feed on floral nectar; females collect pollen and nectar to feed their larvae

Solitary ground-nesting bees where females excavate burrows in well-drained soil. Males are recognized by extraordinarily long antennae, which they use to detect female pheromones.

Benefits: Highly beneficial native pollinators for a wide variety of wild plants and crops. Risks: Non-aggressive and harmless to humans; females can sting if directly crushed, but possess mild venom.
