Harvestman (daddy longlegs)

Common in damp, shaded outdoor places such as leaf litter, under stones, and on walls; some enter buildings.

Mostly small invertebrates, carrion, fungi, and decaying plant material; many are opportunistic omnivores.

Arachnids, not insects, and distinct from spiders; they have a compact body and often gather in groups. They do not spin webs, and adults generally live for months to about a year.

Harmless to people and pets, with no venomous bite of medical concern; they help recycle organic matter and consume small pests.
