Smooth Spider Beetle

Grain storage areas, warehouses, larders, and old houses where organic debris accumulates.

Scavenges on a wide variety of dry organic materials including cereal products, dried fruits, animal skins, and decaying matter.

Primarily nocturnal and slow-moving. They have a globular, spider-like appearance due to their fused elytra and lack of wings. They can survive long periods without food.

They are considered a minor domestic and commercial nuisance pest as they can contaminate food stores. They do not bite or pose direct health risks to humans.
