Bed Bug

Found worldwide in human dwellings, typically in mattress seams, bed frames, cracks and crevices near sleeping areas, or behind wallpaper.

Obligate hematophagous insects, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Mainly nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They are attracted by body heat and CO2. Females lay hundreds of eggs, and nymphs undergo five molts before adulthood.

Risks: Causes itchy bites and allergic reactions; can lead to secondary skin infections from scratching and significant psychological stress or sleep deprivation. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. Benefits: None.
