Scavengers that consume carbohydrates and starches including book bindings, glue, paper, flour, and dog food; also known to eat some protein.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal, fast-moving insects that prefer temperatures around 90-104°F (32-40°C). They are wingless and have a long lifespan for an insect, typically living 1-2 years.

Risks & Benefits

Generally harmless to humans and do not bite. However, they are considered pests due to potential damage to property (paper, cardboard, books, and fabric) and contamination of dry food supplies.
