Booklouse

Damp, humid indoor areas such as libraries, kitchens, bathrooms, and around window seals or wallpaper where mold and fungi grow.

Microscopic molds, fungi, starchy materials, book bindings, and organic debris.

They are wingless, shy, move quickly when disturbed, and often reproduce parthenogenetically indoors where conditions are warm and humid.

Generally harmless to humans and pets, they do not bite or transmit disease. However, their presence indicates high humidity, and large numbers can occasionally damage books, wallpaper, or stored food.
