Behavior Patterns
Sedentary and slow-moving, they use specialized claws to grasp coarse hair shafts and remain attached to the host. They cannot survive more than 24-48 hours off a host.
Risks & Benefits
Risk of intense itching (pruritus) and blue spots (maculae caeruleae) at bite sites. They are typically transmitted via close physical contact. They do not transmit human diseases but can indicate potential for other STIs.
