Angular-winged pyrausta or similar geometer moth

Found in temperate woodlands, forests, and suburban gardens where host trees and shrubs are present.

Caterpillars feed on deciduous tree and shrub foliage. Adult moths drink nectar or moisture.

Nocturnal adults are strongly attracted to artificial lights and rest flat against surfaces with camouflage coloration mimicking dead leaves.

Harmless to humans, though caterpillars can occasionally defoliate specific host plants. They serve as essential prey for birds and bats.
