Spotted Lanternfly (Early Nymph Stage)

Found in various environments including forests, suburbs, and parks, heavily favoring the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima).

Broad range of host plants; they pierce plant stems to feed on phloem/sap, excreting sugary honeydew.

Nymphs hatch in spring and crawl onto plants to feed. They are strong jumpers and move upwards from the ground after hatching.

Invasive pest that poses a significant threat to agriculture (grapes, fruit trees) and timber. They cause plant stress and promote mold growth. No known benefits to the ecosystem.
