Small metallic bee (likely sweat bee)

Gardens, woodland edges, meadows, and other sunny areas with flowering plants; many nest in soil or rotting wood.

Adults feed mainly on nectar and pollen; females collect pollen to provision their larvae.

Usually solitary or primitively social, with ground or cavity nests. Often attracted to sweat, moisture, and sun-warmed surfaces; generally nonaggressive.

Important native pollinators with little risk to people. Females can sting if trapped or handled, but stings are uncommon and typically mild.
