Broad mite (probable)

Usually lives on young leaves, buds, and growing tips of greenhouse, ornamental, and crop plants; this specimen appears crushed, making habitat identification uncertain.

Pierces plant tissues and sucks cell contents, especially from tender growth.

Rapidly reproduces in warm, humid conditions; eggs, larvae, and adults occur on plant surfaces. Feeding causes distorted, curled, bronzed, or stunted new growth.

Harmless to people and pets, but can seriously damage plants. It provides limited food for predatory mites and other small arthropods.
