Leaf-footed bug (probable squash bug relative)

Vegetation in gardens, forests, and tropical or subtropical habitats; commonly found on broad leaves and fruiting plants.

Pierces plants with straw-like mouthparts and sucks sap from leaves, stems, flowers, and developing fruit.

Adults and nymphs often rest openly on foliage, frequently in groups, and may emit an odor when disturbed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis: egg, nymph, and adult.

Generally harmless to people, though some species damage crops and ornamental plants and can transmit plant pathogens. They are also prey for birds, spiders, predatory insects, and parasitoid wasps.
