Western Wood Cockroach

Found outdoors in leaf litter, under bark, and in wood piles; occasionally enters homes but does not establish infestations.

Omnivorous; primarily feeds on decaying organic matter, fungi, and detritus.

Night-active scavengers. Males are often winged and attracted to lights, while females are usually wingless or have short wings. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis.

Benefit the ecosystem as decomposers by breaking down organic matter. They are considered nuisance pests rather than household pests as they rarely survive long indoors.
