Jumping spider

On walls, rocks, tree bark, and vegetation, especially in sunny or well-lit areas. Common in homes and gardens.

Predatory; primarily hunts flies, mosquitoes, small moths, and other spiders. It captures prey by stalking and pouncing rather than using a capture web.

Diurnal and highly visual, with characteristic short jumps; it anchors a silk safety line before jumping. It does not build a conventional web but may make a small silk retreat for resting or molting.

Generally harmless to people, with bites rare and medically insignificant. Beneficial predators that help control household and garden arthropods.
