Katydid (Bush Cricket)

Deciduous forests, fields, meadows, gardens, and shrubbery.

Primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, flowers, foliage, and seeds, though some species may occasionally consume small insects.

Nocturnal activity, excellent leaf mimicry camouflage for protection against predators, and production of mating calls by stridulation (rubbing wings together).

Harmless to humans. They serve as an essential food source for birds, bats, and small mammals, though high populations can occasionally cause minor garden foliage damage.
