Wheel Bug Nymph

Found in forests, woodlands, orchards, and gardens, usually on trees, shrubs, and broad-leafed plants.

Carnivorous; feeds on a variety of soft-bodied insects including caterpillars, aphids, beetles, and leafhoppers by injecting digestive enzymes.

Solitary hunters that stalk their prey slowly. Nymphs are bright red or orange with black spots and lack the characteristic wheel-like crest of the adult, which develops upon reaching maturity.
