Indianmeal moth

Indoor human environments such as pantries, kitchens, and warehouses where stored food products are kept.

The larvae feed on dry stored food products including grains, flour, cereal, pasta, dried fruits, nuts, pet food, and chocolate.

Adults are nocturnal or attracted to light, typically flying in a zigzag pattern. Females lay eggs directly on or near food sources, and larvae spin silk threads as they feed, contaminating food with webs and frass.

Risks include being a major pest that contaminates and ruins stored food products in homes and commercial facilities. They do not bite, sting, or transmit diseases to humans.
