Natural Habitat

Commonly found indoors in dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, under furniture, or in storage containers.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on keratin-containing animal products including wool, fur, feathers, hair, and silk; they also occasionally eat spilled food high in protein.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a portable silk case covered with debris and fibers from its food source. It carries this case as it feeds and eventually pupates within it. Adults are most active at night and avoid light.
