Agapostemon Sweat Bee (Metallic Green Bee)

Gardens, meadows, woodlands, and urban areas across North and South America.

Adults feed on nectar and pollen from flowers; larvae are fed stored pollen and nectar provisioned by females.

Females nest in underground burrows, often forming communal entrance tunnels while maintaining private sub-tunnels. They are active during warm daylight hours and are named sweat bees due to their occasional attraction to human perspiration for salts.

Highly beneficial native pollinator for wildflowers, crops, and gardens. They are non-aggressive; females possess a mild sting but rarely sting unless stepped on or pinched, and males cannot sting at all.
