Bed Bug

Found globally in human dwellings, typically nesting in mattress seams, bed frames, cracks, and crevices near sleeping areas.

Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. They pierce the skin with a beak to extract blood.

Mainly nocturnal and elusive. They hide during the day and emerge at night, attracted by the heat and carbon dioxide emitted by sleeping hosts. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits to humans; they are considered significant household pests.
