Camel Cricket (or Cave Cricket / Spider Cricket)

Dark, damp, and cool areas such as basements, crawl spaces, caves, under logs, and in leaf litter.

Omnivorous, feeding on a wide variety of organic materials including fabric, paper, fungi, and other dead insects.

Nocturnal, wingless, and famous for their ability to jump startlingly high and far when disturbed. They do not chirp like true crickets.

They do not bite, sting, or transmit diseases, and they cannot damage structural wood, but large numbers can be a nuisance and occasionally chew on fabrics or paper.
